Engineering Superintendent
Locations: Hull
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Our client is a leading UK ports business who are seeking to recruit an Engineering Superintendent to work from their site in Hull. With responsibility for leading the engineering team based at Hull Container Terminal, the post holder will oversee planned and breakdown maintenance for all engineering assets and equipment across the facility, and will be required to work closely with Operational management teams and other senior engineering staff.
You will have responsibility for the day to day management of the engineering function ensuring technician’s are organised, that shift requirements are covered and that tasks are agreed and prioritised in line with maximising plant, crane and equipment availability. You will also have responsibility for ensuring that Company processes and procedures are followed, and that the engineering management systems and protocols are adhered to. In addition you will manage the function ensuring compliance with all statutory and legal requirements including but not limited to the dock regulations, LOLER and PUWER.
Additionally, your remit will include driving CAPEX and continuous improvement projects, monitoring budgets for materials and labour and managing Health and Safety, training and HR issues with support from the relevant departments. You will be responsible for implementing the group engineering strategy within HCT which incorporates departmental efficiency targets, cost reduction initiatives, plant equipment and labour requirements.
The successful candidate will have an electrical engineering background and hold a relevant HNC qualification as a minimum. You will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a supervisory management position. You will have the ability to motivate a team of experienced technician’s, be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and have the ability to plan, prioritise and problem solve.
