Health and Safety Officer
Locations: Middlesbrough
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Our client is a leading UK based ports and logistics operator whose main interests lie in the north east and Humberside, with other locations in Felixstowe, Liverpool, Thames and the Midlands. Having made major investments in Health & Safety in recent years, our client has won a number of industry awards for the significant improvements in performance arising from those investments.
Effective leadership in Health & Safety is seen as a key element in the planned successful future of the business and as such we are inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced health & safety specialists to join a team responsible for continuing the development and delivery of high class services in this area.
This position will report to the Health & Safety Manager – North and will be based in Teesport with requirements to operate in a wider geographical base to also support non Teesport operations.
The successful candidate will be qualified to NEBOSH diploma standard, and preferably have management level experience in a health & safety discipline within the ports industry, although applicants will also be considered who have suitable qualifications with experience in other heavy industrial sectors.
In addition to the desired qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will also have strong communication, presentational and influencing skills, allied to the ability to engage with operational and management staff at all levels to continue to deliver the continuous improvement of recent years.
In return, a remuneration package will include a salary up to £38,000 dependent on experience and a company car or car allowance due to the geographical coverage of the role. Career progression is likely to be available to a candidate able to develop in the role.
